Mary and I are on the move again; after 28 years living in the same place we decided it was time to ‘downsize’. The kids have left the nest so with just the two of us we don’t need all the space.

We were looking around and, on a whim; Mary said she liked the sound of the village name; we we turned down this road and found what we were looking for so put in an offer then scrambled to put our place on the market.

It went on to the Rightmove web site on a Friday and by the following Saturday, the day before we went to Ireland, the sold board was up.

After a bit of a worrying time; it looked like we were not going to get moved in time for the Christmas break; we exchanged contracts last Friday then started ringing round to find a removal firm because we complete and move this Wednesday (16th).

It is amazing how much rubbish you accumulate of 28 years – at least 4 trips down the charity shop and a lot more down the tidy tip; it’s also amazing how many different people and organisations you have to notify of the address change, but, thanks to my amazing other half, we are all packed and ready to go – tomorrow it is just a matter of turning off my computers, making a few calls to organisations who do not not have an on-line facility and then going for a lazy lunch.

If all goes well we will be back on-line next Monday – BT tell me the line will be on by Thursday evening and the broadband by Monday evening.

I have to say the people I dealt with at Virgin Media (to close our current TV/broadband – unfortunately no cable where we are going) Sky (New TV package in on Monday) and BT; were all fantastic in their attitude and helpfulness. (I’ll update this after the move hopefully to confirm all are up and running.
